Welcome to the Benchmark for Flexwing Flying …. and 2024 World Champion

The DeltaJet 500 StingRay is an advanced, British-built flexwing designed to capitalise on the new 600 kg Light Sport Microlight limit.
Built on 30 years of competition experience, the DeltaJet 500 was perfected over more than two years of rigorous testing and development. The result combines the only wing certified to handle a 500 kg MTOW with a sculpted low-drag design around the world’s strongest trike chassis, offering ultra-compliant, aerodynamically-enclosed rear suspension, a coil-sprung nosewheel, powerful disc brakes, and fast, sweet-handling. Excellence that won the 2024 World Championship on its first outing.
The DeltaJet 500 StingRay is every pilot’s dream: tough, roomy, comfortable, fast, agile, and superbly controllable.
And now, the Bandit

Sharing the same DNA as the StingRay, the new DeltaJet 500 Bandit swaps the composite body work for a sleek, engineered fabric bodyshell and purpose-built instrument binnacle.
It’s out-and-out designed to put the ‘open air feeling’ back into flexwing flying.
What’s more, it’s still a great touring machine. Over 20 kg lighter than the StingRay, the Bandit still boasts a 499 kg MAUW and the new fabric bodyshell offers great space for luggage.
Every DeltaJet is uniquely advantageous
- Robust: engineered for 499 kg MTOW, high-strength 6082-T6 aluminum tubing, composite seats tested to over 120 kg, solid billet aluminum hang-point.
- Comfort & Safety: spacious fully upholstered composite seats, elevated passenger position for visibility, and inertia-reel seat belts for both occupants.
- Control: Hydraulic disc brakes, adjustable foot pedals, and world-beating 100+mph topless wing.
- Engine Choices: 115 hp BMW R1200, 100 hp Rotax 912ULS, or 80 hp Rotax 912UL.
- Advanced instrumentation: Kanardia electronic analogue/digital gauges as standard.
Performance Highlights
- Takeoff/Climb: Roll on grass is less than 90m, transitioning into a vigorous 1,350 fpm climb (1,050 fpm MAUW).
- Handling: Short field landings are effortless due to a low 34 knot stall speed.
- Powerful Trim: The electrically-adjustable hang point delivers a maximum-weight, hands-off trim range of 48-90+ mph.

Engines

BMW R1200 Injected: The legendary BMW boxer engine is renowned for its power output and ultra reliability. The DeltaJet 500 uses the 1170cc version, which boasts peak power of 115 hp, double over head camshafts (DOHC), four-valve heads, a counterbalance shaft for extra refinement, and Bosch fuel injection for fuel efficiency. Oil/air cooling and an integral oil thermostat gets the engine up to operating temperature more quickly, reducing wear-and-tear on engine components and giving the engine a longer lifespan.

Rotax 912: Well regarded for its reliability and efficiency, this engine has been the mainstay of the light aviation industry. The 80 hp Rotax 912 UL and the 100 hp Rotax 912 ULS are both available in the DeltaJet 500. The engines share a 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid/air-cooled, opposed-cylinder layout, featuring dry sump forced lubrication with a separate oil tank, automatically adjusted hydraulic valve tappets, dual electronic ignition, twin carburetors, and a mechanical fuel pump.
All 3 engines options are fitted with a Keivprop composite propeller, renowned for its smoothness, low noise, and efficiency.
World-Beating StingRay Wing

The StingRay XS12 wing from renowned manufacturer Aeros is the only one tested to carry 500 kg. This high-performance, 12.85 sq. m topless wing offers light, confident handling, exceptional comfort in turbulence, and fast setup without special tools.
Its topless design simplifies hangar storage while attached to the trike, and the entire top surface uses Xlam covering, eliminating the risk of Betts Test failure and ensuring long life.
